Homecare Homebase announces that its New York-based customers have successfully made the transition to comply with the revised New York Medicaid Episodic Payment System (EPS.) As a result of the migration from a fee for service model, to a PPS model, NY Medicaid’s new payment system, Homecare Homebase developers worked hand-in-hand with customers to make necessary functionality and programming changes to adapt the Homecare Homebase solution to the new NY Medicaid system.
Homecare Homebase began this adaptation in late 2011, and successfully met the May 1st deadline set by NY Medicaid, making it possible for their customers to complete and file claims immediately after the system change with no delays in billing and no impact to cash flow.
“The NY Medicaid change was one of our biggest concerns in choosing a new software solution last summer and the most critical challenge we gave to Homecare Homebase before we signed (June 2011). We are thrilled that they not only completely fulfilled the requirement but really hit it out of the park as far as partnering with us, making this a smooth process and making the whole experience very positive, productive and efficient,” commented Bill Knitter, Director of IT for HCR Home Care of New York.
Homecare Homebase, developed by home health and hospice professionals, is the most comprehensive, cloud-based enterprise software solution available, allowing users to decrease costs and streamline agency operations, without compromising care. Homecare Homebase is committed to collaborating with customers and development partners to stay on top of constantly changing regulations and advancing technology to ensure customers can focus on
providing the best in patient care while meeting all necessary federal and state guidelines for billing and clinical documentation.
“WILLCARE attributes a significant portion of its revenue to NY Medicaid, over 2000 patients annually – so getting this right was key,” said WILLCARE Director of Compliance, Ann Gemerek. “Homecare Homebase showed a high level of cooperation and collaboration with us and the other interested parties. They involved us every step of the way to make sure the functionality worked and was right. We were able to successfully maintain our operations after the billing switch-over to the new system without missing a beat.”
Homecare Homebase continues to work closely with their New York-based customers to further refine the new functionality and ensure it is effective and efficient for their billing teams. Other enhancements are currently underway to meet the 5010 compliance requirements that are due 7/1 for NY Medicaid.
“Homecare Homebase will always meet regulatory deadlines within the software to service our customers, what makes us stand out from our competition is that we work closely with customers each step of the way, testing and vetting any functional changes well in advance of the imposed deadlines and we ensure the users have ample time to test and get acquainted with the new changes. Partnering on these types of projects is the best way to ensure the solution meets the customer’s needs both immediately and in the long-run to successfully manage their businesses and most importantly care for patients,” said Tom Maxwell, Chief Strategy Officer at Homecare Homebase.
