Crowd Funding Survey Defines Starting Point For Small Businesses

Ugly Dog Media offers Basics for Business Startups. The Crowd funding survey is the place to start.

Ugly Dog Media, an international PR and marketing firm specializing in the crowdfunding market, is conducting a comprehensive survey to highlight the latest trends and expectations in equity-based crowdfunding. “Being prepared for the new crowdfunding opportunity included in the JOBS Act will be the key to taking advantage of it,” stated Dan Blacharski, President of Ugly Dog Media.

To help small business startups prepare and learn about the benefits crowdfunding provides, Ugly Dog Media has developed the survey that brings the issues involved to the forefront and allows the business person to gauge his or her knowledge of crowdfunding. Ugly Dog Media is asking companies that are either engaged in, or considering crowdfunding, to take the brief survey, available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/crowdfunding-expectations.

“Crowdfunding as a way for small businesses to raise capital is entirely new in this country, but has been available in other parts of the world for years. We need to educate ourselves to take advantage of it,” Blacharski stated. Blacharski who has published several business books and articles ever since his time in the early dotcom boom era, developed the crowdfunding survey as the initial benchmark to form the basis for crowdfunding in this country. The survey allows small businesses to examine their understanding of the new crowdfunding regulations, platforms involved and degree to which they need to develop their own “crowd.”

The beauty of crowdfunding for small businesses is that no matter how small or how large your capital needs are (up to $1 million), you can now pursue them without going through the traditional banking system or Wall Street IPO maze. Small businesses will be able to approach friends, family, venture capitalists, anyone that might be interested in investing in their business. This survey helps them determine where to start.

Crowdfunding initially gained popularity in the US with non-equity, contribution sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo, which catered largely to creative projects. With the new regulations in place, newer crowdfunding platforms will assist small business ventures looking for start-up or expansion capital. Small businesses will be able to raise much-needed funds from up to 500 investors, who receive equity in the company in return.

"Making a traditional stock market offer is way out of reach for small businesses," added Blacharski. "But crowdfunding opens that door, and within the next two years will bring about an incredible wave of innovation and entrepreneurship in America. We're very pleased to be a part of that, and look forward to helping small businesses throughout the country take that important step."

The Crowdfunding Survey developed and distributed by Ugly Dog Media gives everyone a chance to examine their crowd funding opportunities. It highlights the areas of consideration for developing your crowd of investors, and keeping those investors informed and engaged after their initial investment.

The survey is one tool in having a clear idea of where to start with crowdfunding. Once business people refine the goals for their particular business, they can then develop their strategies for attracting the investors and capital they need.
