The ReliabilityPak is a collection of analytical and sampling based methods packaged into a single trade study tool that runs inside of PHX ModelCenter, a design optimization and modeling and simulation framework. Engineers and analysts can apply these methods to launch more accurate studies and view specialized reports to show the relative impact of each design variable and how slight changes to each variable affect product reliability, performance, and cost.
The multiple ReliabilityPak methods range from the classic Monte Carlo approach to advanced reduced order methods from the leading research organization Southwest Research Institute (SwRI). These techniques translate into drastically more efficient results to perform reliability-based design optimization studies. Recent use cases reveal time savings by orders of magnitude over Monte Carlo—almost a 1000% time reduction without a major compromise in accuracy. Monte Carlo, is often referred to as the “exact solution”, but it is impractical for many problems due to its inefficiency.
