The design and development of the recently introduced Cummins DMC 1500 Paralleling System were guided by two overarching principles: to produce the first truly global platform for paralleling multiple generator sets and simplify the complexity inherent in such a sophisticated product. The new video explains how these goals were achieved and also describes the features and benefits of the system.
Cummins engineers set out to design and build a system-level control and integrate it with customized switchgear engineered for different low- and medium-voltage applications. The DMC 1500 also features an advanced, graphical touchscreen interface, which allows an operator to see and control the entire power system.
The system also needed to be a global product, able to be sold, used and serviced anywhere. To that end, standard components and an enclosure approved by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as well as by Underwriters Laboratory (UL) were incorporated into the product. Now users in a wide range of industries around the world—from mining to water treatment to construction—can utilize the functionality and simplicity of the DMC 1500 system.
