Minneapolis firm will assist the nonprofit as it takes its prestigious leadership development program for public school leaders to the greater education marketplace.

LEVEL, a global brand strategy and advertising firm, announces it has been hired by the NYC Leadership Academy, a successful nonprofit known for turning around some of New York City’s most challenging schools through its innovative leadership programs, proven methods and ongoing practitioner support systems for public school leaders. Founded in 2003 with the backing of The Partnership for New York City, The Wallace Foundation and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the organization believes that public school leaders are not just administrators but school innovators, and provides them with hands-on leadership training and development programs.

Leveraging its success in New York City, the NYC Leadership Academy has hired LEVEL to enhance its brand and assist the organization as it seeks to market its leadership development programs to school districts, state education departments, universities and other nonprofit organizations nationwide.

“The NYC Leadership Academy has demonstrated it has a proven model of success in preparing school leaders to be change agents and help schools to reach their full potential,” said Lois Dirksen, president of LEVEL. “We look forward to working with this amazing organization as they strive to assist schools nationwide to develop effective leaders and improve school systems for the benefit of all students.”

Since 2003, the NYC Leadership Academy has worked with more than 1,000 New York City public school principals. Graduates of its principal preparation program represent one in six of the city’s 1,600 school leaders with the majority of them leading high-need schools.

"As we look to expand our reach and extend our leadership development and support resources to school leaders in other districts nationwide, we welcome LEVEL’s role in building on our past success and redefining our position in the education market,” said Vivian Brady-Phillips, Executive Vice President, External & Legal Affairs.

In addition to a comprehensive marketing plan, LEVEL will design a new website and collateral for the NYC Leadership Academy.

About NYC Leadership Academy
The NYC Leadership Academy, an independent nonprofit established in 2003, designs and delivers preparation, coaching, and leadership support programs for New York City public school leaders. Independent evaluation of its nationally-recognized Aspiring Principals Program (APP) has found that schools led by APP graduates tend to improve student performance in English language arts (ELA) and math at a higher rate than schools led by similarly-tenured principals in similar schools. The organization also provides strategic consulting to the New York City Department of Education, New York State Education Department, and other school districts, state education departments and education stakeholders across the country. Now in its eighth year, the NYC Leadership Academy’s Aspiring Principals Program (APP) has trained 17 percent of current New York City public school principals, who serve more than 110,000 students in some of the city’s most challenging schools.
