Author Peter Fleming excites science fiction enthusiasts as he pens the sequel to Falling to Destiny. Made available through Xlibris, Falling into History continues the adventures of Kim Hawthorne, Hymoliga Eight and Ishmael Starbuck.
Space ethicist Kim Hawthorne and our long-suffering narrator Ishmael Starbuck join Hymoliga Eight – a mobile, talking Martian plant - on a wild ride through history, to the Gold Rush, where time travelling robbers are stealing all the gold, and to ancient Ephesus, where they become involved in a plot to kill Saint Paul. But for Hymoliga Eight, the pressing question is: can he tell a story well enough to persuade Jonathan Swift to accept him into a famous 18th century writers’ club?
Being pursued through time by homicidal maniacs only adds to their problems.
“The idea for the series,” says Fleming, “is to tell several stories in each book, and each story in a different style from the one before it, to keep the reader on his or her toes. There might be a somewhat realistic treatment of a social justice issue explored at the start, but next you’ll find a satire unfolding, or a coming-of-age story in the ancient world, or even a romance. The science fiction elements get us to a place, but once there, all bets are off as to the type of adventure in store.”
Peter Fleming’s earlier work Falling to Destiny was serialised by ABC Radio National for its Book Reading programme. More time travel, fantasy, and sci-fi space adventure await readers in Falling into History.
