80% of students preferred to own a laptop rather than a tablet PC

The research found many students finding laptops more reliable and easier to fix if a problem did arise. Alongside this laptops are generally always upgradeable and come with essential CD/DVD drives, something missing from current tablet PCs. In addition aesthetics of laptops and tablets were compared with those preferring the range of colours available on laptops as well as different screen sizes. Dell laptops, is the brand of choice according to 65% of 3000 students who took part in the survey.
Most students had significant concerns when it came to the fragility of the touch screen gadgets, many worried a drop of their bag would render the tablets unusable, compared to laptops.
However beyond those initial concerns 75% of the total students surveyed preferred laptops simply due to the massive cost difference between cheap laptops and tablets with similar specifications.
