ExtraCare Charitable Trust is renowned for providing the over 55s with alternative care homes across the country. Older people can retreat for the fantastic array of care homes where they can enjoy a healthy, independent and active lifestyle. This week, ExtraCare’s residents at Lovat Fields in Milton Keynes celebrated the home’s fifth birthday in style.
ExtraCare Charitable Trust at http://www.extracare.org.uk has care homes across the UK. Committed to developing alternative care homes, the villages aim to inspire the over 55s to get involved with the friendly, close knit community and partake in the wide range of activities on offer.
This year, as part of the Inspire Programme, ExtraCare has organised a London 2012 inspired Torch Relay which will travel 715 miles around the country, visiting each village on its journey. Residents are expected to travel with the torch through various modes of transport in order to pass the torch to the different villages and to encourage the residents to get active.
This week, as well as the London 2012 inspired events, Lovat Fields in Milton Keynes has also been celebrating its fifth birthday with a tropical themed party and money raising event.
The residents joined together to celebrate with a Caribbean buffet, wearing brightly coloured ensembles and dancing with a four-piece steel band.
A raffle that took place at the party raised £500 for Willen Hospice nearby after manager Steve Neal challenged residents to reach the target.
As celebrations continue around the country, residents prepare for an action packed summer in the various alternative care homes across the country. Visit ExtraCare.org.uk for more information.
