New Rochelle, NY (PRWEB) July 20, 2012
Sound Shore Medical Center, a teaching hospital in Westchester, New York, recently announced that it is the recipient of Healthcare Association of New York State's (HANYS) 2012 Community Health Improvement Award for its outpatient pediatric immunization program. The award was presented to Sound Shore Medical Center at HANYS' annual meeting on June 27th-28th.
HANYS utilized a national committee of healthcare professionals to judge submissions from across New York State. Health care programs were judged on categories such as leadership, collaboration and proven results.
"Sound Shore Medical Center is proud of its healthcare services and its dedicated staff that helps make our community residents healthier," said John R. Spicer, President and CEO of Sound Shore Medical Center. "It is an honor to be recognized by HANYS for our Outpatient Pediatric Immunization Program."
The pediatric immunization program at Sound Shore Medical Center has seen a 100 percent increase in immunizations in the last two years, with 94 percent of one year old children completing all of the vaccinations that were suggested by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. Sound Shore Medical Center's immunization program also resulted in increased clinic visits that produced opportunities to monitor other aspects of their patients' health.
"The Outpatient Pediatric Immunization Program is a great example of the innovative programs hospitals are creating across the state to address critical issues within their communities," said Daniel Sisto, President of HANYS.
Sound Shore Medical Center was also awarded the National Certificate of Excellence for achieving Healthy People Immunization goals two years ahead of schedule.
