LMI Systems, Inc., Atlanta’s premiere high and low voltage solutions provider, announced today that it would be selling and installing solutions from intelligent video solutions company i3 International. LMI Systems, Inc. will be equipping its clients with i3’s Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) software, an application that parses and analyzes video feed from i3 International’s security recorders to provide business intelligence on shopper activities.

“A typical store collects hours and hours of video footage but only view it in connection with criminal activity or theft,” said Scott Goodwin, President of LMI Systems, Inc. “BAM processes this underutilized data to provide store owners with actionable information on customer (and employee) behavior they can use to increase sales.”

BAM works by analyzing the movement of the individual bits of information that make up an image (pixels) and masking out other, static image elements, thereby identifying and capturing moving objects such as people. With BAM, working in tandem with cameras throughout the store, owners can obtain information such as how long customers spend in a department, whether or not sales personnel engage them, and if activities or displays specifically attract (or deter) their interest.

BAM presents results in a series of graphical charts, making it easy for users to discern trends and patterns. This information provides data on traffic flow, peak business periods and other important metrics. Paired with sales data, it lets store owners how many shoppers become buyers and provide insight into why they might leave without buying. BAM also integrates with a wide variety of point-of-purchase systems to facilitate better merchandising.

“Shopper behavior is key indicator of a store’s success, especially with its merchandise displays, point of sale materials, and other customer-facing components, yet many stores lack the information to know what shoppers are doing,” said Goodwin. “With BAM, store owners can identify both problems and opportunities that will help them to convert more shoppers into purchasers.”
