World-renowned psychologist and author Fred Penzel, Ph.D. will speak at the OCD Live Forum on July 26, 2012 sponsored by Beyond OCD. His empowering remarks, titled “The Wisdom of No Escape,” are designed to help sufferers of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder cope with and ultimately get beyond OCD.
“Everyone has a philosophy of things, whether or not they call it that, or even recognize it,” stated Dr. Penzel. ”In trying to deal with a problem such as OCD, it is vital to approach it with a philosophy that enables you to accept the problem, as well as to persist in doing what is necessary to overcome it, he continued.”Dr. Penzel’s talk aims to share an outline of some of the most basic truths of what can make up a good, working philosophy. He will draw heavily on Zen, which embodies some of the simplest and most clear ways of relieving people’s suffering."
Dr. Penzel is a licensed psychologist who has specialized in the treatment of OCD and related disorders since 1982. He is the executive director of Western Suffolk Psychological Services in Huntington, Long Island, New York, a private treatment group specializing in OCD and O-C related problems.
