Chiropractor in Scottsdale Offers New Testing for Food Senstivities to Uncover Hidden Causes for Disease and Pain

Chiropractic care is mainly thought of as strictly structural treatment but progressive doctors such as Dr. Jeffrey Robinson DC have blended kinesiological testing with nutritional therapies to treat a wide variety of conditions.

Dr. Jeff Robinson has incorporated applied kinesiology into his practice to determine food sensitivities, toxicity and dysbiosis to help the most difficult patients.

Applied Kinesiology is an alternative medicine diagnostic tool and treatment developed by chiropractor George Goodheart, Jr. forty years ago. It is a strength resistance test based on the link between muscles, glands and organs. Muscle strength is tested and the strength of the muscle is believed to be related to the health of the organ or area of the body being tested.

Applied kinesiology finds a muscle that tests weak or strong and then attempts to determine why that muscle is not functioning properly. The practitioner will then evaluate and apply the therapy that will best eliminate the muscle weakness and help the patient.

Therapies utilized can include specific joint manipulation or mobilization, various myofascial therapies, cranial techniques, meridian therapy, clinical nutrition, dietary management and various reflex procedures.

In some cases, the examiner may test for environmental or food sensitivities by using a previously strong muscle to find what weakens it.
“I started using Kinesiology two years ago in my practice, my front office manager suffered from severe allergies for years, kinesiology showed a sensitivity to gluten, she stopped eating gluten containing foods, lost 60lbs in 6 months and all her pollen and animal allergies were gone.” “That opened my eyes to the real cause of symptoms in my patients,” reports Dr. Robinson.

But allergists and gastroenterologists say that although food intolerance does occur, most of it involving specific foods like lactose or gluten, the lab tests being marketed to consumers have no scientific basis. Blood tests for food sensitivities are prone to false positives/negatives that can lead people to remove or not eliminate potential harmful/ harmless foods from their diets, they say.

Dr. Robinson agrees “For years I used IgG/IgE testing for food allergies, the results were confusing and inaccurate I felt. Kinesiology and Patient outcomes have showed me just how inaccurate they were.”

Food intolerances/sensitivities are unpleasant reactions that do not involve the immune system, according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. They can be caused by enzyme deficiencies, sensitivities to food additives such as sulfites and monosodium glutamate, or reactions to naturally occurring chemicals.
“Not only are specific foods like gluten, casein and eggs potential allergens but Dysbiosis (fungal, bacterial and parasitic infections) combined with heavy metal/chemical toxicity create an over-responsive immune system which becomes sensitive and reactive to everything,” reports Dr. Robinson.

People like Linda O. have also seen how food can impact there pain, “I had pain in multiple joints, my knees, shoulder, wrist and neck. Chiropractic and massage would help but the pain would come back,” she said. “I removed wheat products and nightshades from my diet, the pain was gone in two weeks and has not returned!”

Dr. Robinson’s kinesiological testing takes about 25 minutes for a comprehensive exam it is not covered under insurance but is very affordable compared to most food allergy lab testing. Most patients will have a two week follow-up to asses improvement and changes which need to be made to the program.
