Kelli Strang’s new children’s book “Talking without Shocking: A Lesson in Voice Control” (published by AuthorHouse) tells the story of a young girl with a loud voice.
The protagonist learns the importance of adjusting the volume of her voice depending on her surroundings. Through several different scenarios, she realizes that she has a responsibility to use her voice appropriately. This is a valuable lesson for young children to learn, as any adult has known the disruption of a loud child.
An excerpt from “Talking without Shocking”:
“My mommy says my voice is beautiful and loud and that I must learn how to use it depending on the crowd. It's important to change your voice with respect to time and place and most of all, a voice works best with a smile upon your face. It's a big responsibility when you think of what you can say and you never want to use your voice in a mean or hurtful way.”
Fully illustrated, “Talking without Shocking” is available now wherever books are sold online.
About the Author
As a child, Kelli Strang was always captivated by the art of storytelling. She grew up in a rural setting in a small Midwestern town; leisure time was not spent watching television. Her humble upbringing and loving parents encouraged Strang and her siblings to use their imaginations. “As a parent, it seems only natural that one might wish to integrate some part of one’s own childhood into one’s children’s lives. Having loved story time as a child, it seems a natural thing to share these experiences with my children.”
A college graduate and mother of three, Strang has been married to her husband, Robert, for 16 years and resides in southwest Missouri.
