This release of FastTrack specifically aims to provide solutions to some challenges experienced by Network Admins when managing Citrix and SCCM network environments.
Canterbury, England (PRWEB) July 17, 2012
FastTrack Software, the emerging leader in the development of Windows Scripting tools, has announced the availability of a major new release of its flagship product, FastTrack Scripting Host (FastTrack) version 8.(http://www.FastTrackScript.com).This release is primarily targeted at easing Windows Network Admininstrator’s headaches when managing the Citrix and SCCM environments.
FastTrack was developed for organizations looking for ways to make more efficient and effective use of Network Administrators' time. One of the most basic, often overlooked, means of achieving this is by automating the repetitive and mundane tasks required of a Network Admin through the use of scripts.
FastTrack Scripting Host offers a powerful and simple to use alternative to languages such as Powershell, KiXtart and VB Script. FastTrack is a scripting language designed for scripting Windows 7, 8 and XP network environments While Microsoft moves scripting more and more towards programming, FastTrack heads in the opposite direction. FastTrack is a scripting language, but it is so high-level and easy to use that it resembles configuration more than programming. The cornerstone paradigm is:
One operation = one script line.
Lars Pedersen, Managing Director of FastTrack Software commented: “We believe that the best way to continue to develop software is to be responsive to the needs of Users. As we continued to add functionality that addressed User input during 2011, we also responded to fiscal needs in small environments. We achieved this by releasing a free, cut-down, version of the Enterprise edition for use on the client side only - plus we made a Small Business Edition available."
Pedersen went on to say: “Early in 2012, as we continued to add user-driven feature functionality, we also decided to spotlight the needs of larger installations. We asked our Customers how we could enhance functionality to make FastTrack even more valuable in their day-to-day network management operations. The result of that feedback is the release of version 8.0 which, in addition to a number of smaller enhancements, specifically addresses issues our Users said they experience in managing the Citrix and SCCM environments.”
Powerful new features include:
- Citrix XenApp support: Start and control XenApp and XenDesktop sessions from the client side and query client name and IP address from the server side, which is useful for mapping shares and printer in logon scripts based on the client location. Refer to this page for more information.
- SCCM integration: Exchange task sequence variables on the fly and get easy access to SCCM logging and client installation status from scripts. Refer to this page for more information.
- Hypervisor detection: Hyper-V, VMware and XenServer can be detected from scripts, which can be useful to exclude installations and updates in VDI environments. A common "VirtualMachine" condition is available, as are Conditions to check for an explicit hypervisor. Refer to the logon script examples page.
- New Kiosk computer example based on the new XenApp support. More information on this page.
- Remote Desktop client version and status information available through new functions and conditions.
FastTrack is fully compatible with Windows 8.
