i wireless, a leading regional wireless communications provider, today announced its board of directors has appointed Craven Shumaker as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective Monday, July 16, 2012. Shumaker brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience with Fortune 500 wireless communications companies to his new role with i wireless.
Shumaker previously served in executive leadership posts at Nextel and Sprint. Past positions with Sprint have included Regional Vice President for the South, Regional President for the North with oversight of 13 states and 13 million customers, and Senior Vice President of Indirect Sales and Distribution for the US and Puerto Rico with a staff of 900 employees. In his time with Sprint and Nextel, Shumaker led initiatives to launch and build top tier markets, develop sales culture and grow distribution channels including big box deployment. Most recently, Shumaker has served as a Senior Executive at Manage Mobility, a reseller for Sprint.

Shumaker holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He also earned a Certificate of Business Leadership from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. Shumaker and his family will be relocating to the Des Moines area from Atlanta this summer.
