Russ Allison Named to Top Post at Sato Pharmaceutical's U.S. Operation

After 25 years at J&J, new general manager Russ Allison plans to use to his consumer goods sales and marketing skills to grow Sato's self-medication product line business.

Russ Allison, a consumer goods sales and marketing veteran for 25 years at Johnson & Johnson, has been named general manager for Carson, CA-based Sato Pharmaceutical.

According to Seiichi Sato, president of Sato’s worldwide organization headquartered in Japan, Allison will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the company as well as directing its sales in the U.S.

Prior to leaving J&J, Allison was a business development manager for their consumer product line and handled key accounts with drug wholesalers and large retailers. Previously, he was a director of sales at J&J Logistics Company as well as director of sales training. Earlier, he worked in beauty trade marketing on skin care brands for J&J Logistics Company.

“Sato has always offered a quality line of self-medication products which they continue to develop and produce in their own factories. I look forward to contributing to their growth and in providing leading edge and innovative health-related products in the U.S.,” Allison said.

The southern California resident has recently been active in creating his proprietary programs in sales team development and management. His specialties are business planning, sales team recruitment and development, sales leadership and executive level presentations as well as cross-functional project management. In addition, his specialties include brand licensing and acquisition initiatives.

For a brief time after leaving J&J, he was with Owl Works, where he was involved with his proprietary training programs and seminars, CPG sales consultation and new item presentation development strategy.

Allison joins the venerable Sato Pharmaceutical organization which was established in 1915. The company creates and supplies hundreds of its OTC-drugs and health and beauty aids for self-medication throughout the world.

In the U.S., Sato’s major lines are Yunker liquid nutritional supplements which promote natural and herbal ingredients, external analgesics and Zentrip for motion sickness.
