In May, 2012 a new business was formed in Johnson City, Tennessee, specializing in in-home pet care while owners are away. Karla Bailey, Founder, has been taking care of pets all her life, first following her mom as a pet sitter; then through veterinary technician training. "I've always loved the special bond between humans and animals" says Karla. Matthew Bailey, her husband, has worked with police dogs, treating injuries sustained in the line of duty, while working for emergency medical services. "Some days I wonder why my first career was in the care of people, I often find more solace and fulfillment caring for animals." Both have embarked on a journey to set the industry standard for in-home pet care in Northeast Tennessee and are joining Pet Sitters International for continuing education and further training

People often ask Karla and Matthew "Why should I choose a Professional Pet Sitter?" Pet Sitters take care of pets in their own home, which greatly lessens the anxiety of an parent's absence. Pets have daily visits with the Sitter to look forward to, and are free to roam anywhere in the house that the pet parent allows. This freedom will feel natural for a pet. Most pets are social to a point, they enjoy the company of their house mates, but grow weary of unfamiliar animals without their owner's sure direction. Other pets are solitary, preferring to keep to themselves with limited interaction. These personalities and many others can be easily accommodated at home. A Professional Pet Sitter comes and takes care of essentials, while spending time with the pet on the pet's terms. Solitary pets keep to themselves, social pets look forward to the daily visits, and all are comforted by their home territory.

Services offered include the traditional feeding and walking, but also include overnight care, where pets are cared for in home in the evening, overnight, and again in the morning. "The drive for new services comes from our customers" says Matthew. "If a client needs a service, we will do our best to meet their needs, and we also strive to care for pets in new and creative ways."
