Dr. Harry Irving releases new book “A Children's Picture-Word and Simple Sentence Book”

In his new book “A Children's Picture-Word and Simple Sentence Book: English Version Primary Grades & ESOL Students”(published by Trafford Publishing), seasoned educator Dr. Harry Irving, Ed. D., uses pictures, simple text and concise storytelling to enhance the reading and language art skills of young readers.

“A Children's Picture-Word and Simple Sentence Book” is organized in easy-to-reference sections and includes some 180 pictures that can be used in lessons focusing on comprehension and reflex recognition.

While “A Children's Picture-Word and Simple Sentence Book” is useful for all caregivers of children, the book is especially formatted for the in-class teacher.

About the Author
Dr. Harry Irving, an African American whose great grandparents were slaves, whose father was illiterate, and whose mother only had a fifth grade education, attended racially segregated public schools in the 1940s and 1950s in his native state of West Virginia. After graduating from high school in 1952, he served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, as a non-commissioned officer. Upon separation from the military in 1956, he attended West Virginia State University. In 1957, he moved to California, where he earned his A.A. (1959) from Los Angeles City College, B.A. (1962) and M.A. (1972) from California State University, Los Angeles, and a doctorate degree (1990) from Pepperdine University.

After 26 years of teaching grades K-12 with the Los Angeles Unified School District, Irving retired in 1994. In post-retirement, he has taught school in South Korea, New York, Georgia, Florida, and Maryland. Irving is a life long dedicated educator. He enjoys working with youth, helping to prepare them to become productive, creative and contributive citizens.
