“The performance was so outstanding and moving that I got goose bumps and cried." - Lilly Ledbetter, Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the first act of legislation signed by President Obama

Honoring Women’s Rights conference is presenting, “We Did It For You” at National Steinbeck Center on September 8.
"We Did It For You" is a musical designed to entertain and describe the struggles women went through as they worked toward achieving equal footing with men as citizens. There was a time when women had no rights; to their children, to vote, to a paycheck, to land ownership, to a credit card. This is the story of how they got these rights, told by the women who were there.
This musical encourages women, young and old, to take action and participate in politics, business, and civil rights in order to bring about a more balanced society. Written by Thea Iberall and directed by Terra Taylor Knudson, the play was first showcased May 2010 at the Irvine Women’s Journey Conference and it has been performed for colleges, organizations, state conventions, and museums with tremendous responses from audiences.
