The development team of Quadrangle Development Corporation and The Wilkes Company has announced the installation of a major work of public art at the corner of 3rd and I Streets, NW. The sculpture, Aria, created by noted sculptor Rodney Carroll and located adjacent to Madrigal Lofts, a 259-unit condominium building. Aria, made of stainless steel and over 16 feet tall, is a commanding presence at this important intersection and reflects Quadrangle’s and The Wilkes Company’s commitment to ensuring that Mount Vernon Place, the companies’ two million square foot mixed-use project, is an elegant and distinct neighborhood within Mount Vernon Triangle.
Mount Vernon Triangle already has a robust public art program including the earlier installation of Ethan Kerber’s Inspiration and David Black’s Lift Off at 5th and K Streets, NW. The addition of Aria further enhances the vibrancy of The Triangle for its residents, workers and visitors. Recently, Quadrangle Development Corporation and The Wilkes Company announced the groundbreaking for 440 K, a 234-unit, 14-floor apartment building, their fourth joint project at Mount Vernon Place. Scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2013, 440 K will bring contemporary, luxury apartments and more than 9,000 square feet of first floor retail space to Mount Vernon Place.
