Oklahoma City, OK (PRWEB) July 16, 2012
The Oklahoma bankruptcy lawyers at Atkins & Markoff, a team of attorneys who represent clients who are consumers and businesses experiencing serious financial difficulties, hereby reports that the number of bankruptcy cases filed in the United States for both businesses and consumers during the first half of 2012 has dropped significantly when compared to the number of filings initiated during the first half of 2011.
Epiq Systems Inc, which manages documents and claims for companies in bankruptcy, originally reported the statistics to the public. These United States bankruptcy statistics showed that during the first half of 2012, a total of 632,130 cases were filed for both consumers and businesses. This represented a drop of 14 percent when compared to the number of filings initiated during the first half of 2011.
In addition, the number of business bankruptcy filings initiated in the United States during the first half of 2012 fell to a total of 30,946. Finally, the number of consumer bankruptcy filings dropped to a total of 601,184, which represents a drop in those filings by a factor of 13 percent.
If the current pace holds, then the number of total bankruptcy case filings in the United States in 2012 would be the lowest total number since 2008. However, those who still may be struggling with their finances, whether they are involved in a business or they are struggling as an individual, will need to find some form of relief. The Oklahoma bankruptcy attorneys at Atkins & Markoff encourage anyone who is struggling in this manner to have their finances reviewed by an experienced professional.
