At today’s Interactive Advertising Bureau’s (IAB) Marketplace - Mobile event Jivox announced interactive ad insertion for HTTP live streaming (HLS) for mobile sites and apps that support HLS video. This latest release of the Jivox platform enables publishers and advertisers to insert interactive video ads into live television streams that are delivered to mobile devices. By doing so Jivox is enabling advertisers and publishers to realize the opportunities of monetizing programming across the TV and other screens, including smartphones and tablets.

According to a Nielsen, in May 2012 there were 163 million unique U.S. video viewers who streamed over 26 billion videos. HTTP live streaming has become a standard for delivering both on-demand and live video streams to mobile devices. It provides a very scalable way to stream video to various screens and connected devices that don’t support Flash video.
As cable networks, MSOs and other content owners continue to make video content available on smartphones, tablets and other connected devices, monetizing those video streams is becoming increasingly important.
