Under the Patronage of the European Commission, Amnesty International and International Organization for Migration, "Apulian Excellence" is Accademia Apulia's latest project.
Between 16th July and 21st July, Apulia's creative excellence from the fields of cinema, music, art and gastronomy will take centre stage in prestigious locations in central London, including La Galleria, Pall Mall and the Italian Cultural Institute.
The cultural calendar will be launched by artist Luisa Cotardo who will introduce children from the Norlington School to the ancient and fascinating papier-mâché art of Cartepesta.
During the week, several other key figures from Apulia's art world will leave their mark in London, starting with international art critic Lia De Venere who will showcase 'Home, my place in the World" at La Galleria a contemporary art exhibition with 'home' as its central theme.
Questions & answers with Italian film star Checco Zalone, will follow a screening of blockbuster movie Che Bella Giornata (Eng subtitles) at the Italian Cultural Institute. Since there could not be an Italian showcase without a good measure of fashion, in the grand setting of the Institute, Nico Didonna will unveil his 2013 spring/summer collection.
Each cultural event on the calendar will have sumptuous food imported for the occasion all the way from Apulia. Each soiree will have a different menu prepared by a team of five celebrity chefs: Leonardo Vescera, Peppe Zullo, William Tespi, Domenico Cilenti and Costea Florindo. The team, lead by culinary expert Rosario Didonna, will offer Apulia's sample menus - all washed down with copious amounts Negramaro and Primitivo.
All events are free, but reservation will be essential.
