Select International Participating in 2012 Disability Mentoring Day

Select International, a global employee assessment and hiring solutions provider, will join other Pittsburgh employers by participating in Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) on October 17, 2012. International program promotes career development for students with disabilities and provides mentoring opportunities for employers.

Select International, a global employee assessment and hiring solutions provider, will join other Pittsburgh employers by participating in Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) on October 17, 2012. The program, which began in 1999 as National Disability Mentoring Day, gives students with disabilities the opportunity to visit with an employer for a day.

Held on the third Wednesday of October, the international event is hosted by the American Association of People with Disabilities, in collaboration with the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP). The program, which promotes career development through hands-on activities, job shadowing, and ongoing mentoring, connects nearly 13,000 students and job seekers with disabilities to thousands of employers each year.

Select International has assembled a team of volunteers to plan a full day for the students. In addition to taking part in some organized activities, the students will shadow a mentor for part of the day. The DMD team will also conduct mock interviews, as well as provide the students with interviewing tips and guidance.

"It's rewarding to be involved in such a worthwhile initiative," said Paul Glatzhofer, who is serving as Select International's DMD Team Lead. "We're looking forward to providing the students with an enjoyable and educational experience."
