A picnic in the romantic setting of the Finger Lakes is the perfect way to break up a day of wine tasting and site seeing while getting in touch with the region's beauty
Auburn, NY (PRWEB) July 18, 2012
July is National Picnic Month, the perfect opportunity to celebrate the best of summer with family and friends. Cayuga County Tourism recommends unique summer events, food stops, and serene settings near the Finger Lakes Wine Trails – from enjoying a quiet setting to movies and music in the park.
Best Picnic-Friendly Events:
Music & A Movie (Auburn): Grab a blanket and enjoy sitting under the stars. On Tuesday evenings (through the end of August) enjoy musical performances beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Hoopes Park followed by a family movie. Fun for all ages. Amelia's Deli at Long Point Winery (Aurora): Open on the weekends for those that are taking in a wine tour, Amelia's in-house cafe menu offers salads, soups and specialty sandwiches. Stop in the winery to enjoy premium wines while enjoying the spectacular lake view.
Man in the Moon Cheesecake Co. (King Ferry): Unique cheesecake flavors—including bacon, chocolate pretzel and Nutella—are just a few of the many choices. An array of other made from scratch baked good choices include cupcakes, personalized iced cookies, pies, fresh bread and more. Gluten-free, vegan and sugar free treats are available. Man in the Moon Cookie Tins make a great present or souvenir and can easily be shipped back home.
The bakery uses seasonal fruits, vegetables, and organic grains produced by local farmers whenever possible as well as biodegradable or recyclable packaging. Visit http://maninthemooncheesecake.com/Welcome.html for more information.
Best Serene Settings:
Long Point State Park (Aurora): Long Point State Park http://www.ilovethefingerlakes.com/recreation/stateparks-longpoint.htm is a small day-use park with a clean, stoney beach, boat launch, playground and other facilities for families. A picnic area with tables and grills makes it easy to set up a special spot for lunch while enjoying a swim in Cayuga Lake.
Frontenac Park (Union Springs): Frontenac Park is a twenty-seven acre municipal park located along the northeast shore of Cayuga Lake. The park has two picnic pavilions and a gazebo available for reservation for your special event. Frontenac Island is visible from any location in the park. The park http://unionspringsny.com/park/ has a playground, soccer field, baseball diamond, and basketball court.
