Adding WLF enables us to include more data from the West in our annual report on the status of women directors and executive officers. Plus, Donna’s experience in public policy and strategic planning makes her a valuable resource for our board.

ION, the InterOrganization Network, today announced that the Women’s Leadership Foundation (WLF) has joined ION as its sixteenth regional executive women’s member organization. The addition of this Denver, Colorado-based nonprofit strengthens ION’s representation in major U.S. metropolitan areas west of the Mississippi. Donna Evans, CEO of WLF and the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce (CWCC), will join the ION Board of Directors.

“Adding WLF is significant because it enables us to include more data from the West in our annual report on the status of women directors and executive officers. Plus, Donna’s experience in public policy and strategic planning makes her a valuable resource for our board,” said ION President Sarah Meyerrose.

WLF is the official nonprofit organization of the CWCC. By joining ION, WLF members gain access to ION’s national resources, including a board director database, investor toolkit and original research. According to a WLF study, in 2011 only seven percent of directorship positions in publicly traded companies in Colorado are held by women, compared to 16 percent nationwide. Evans notes that this low percentage is not for lack of motivated women executives.

“Our Board Bound workshops sold out in both June and July, so we added a third in August. These events are popular because they introduce Colorado women to our corporate and community board training programs that provide individualized plans to prepare for board service,” Evans said. “Now as a member of ION, we can offer our members both training and national opportunities for board service.”

Prior to serving as the CEO of the WLF and CWCC, Ms. Evans was the director of public policy and strategic partnerships for the Downtown Denver Partnership. She has also held various leadership positions in public policy, strategic planning, business development and marketing for a large technology corporation, a higher education facility and non-profit organizations.
