Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) July 17, 2012
On July 17, 2012, fishbat, Inc released a statement regarding recently released Nielsen survey data, showing that 19% of respondents preferred Netflix for streaming TV programming. This number increased from just 11% in 2011. The increase in this opinion is being linked to Netflix recently announcing more original programming. Currently the streaming video service has the original series “Lilyhammer” created by Anne Bjornstad and Eilif Skodvin. They’ve also announced that they will host the newest season of the cult-hit “Arrested Development”.
Sida Li, Social Media Director at Online Marketing Firm, fishbat, says “This movement away from traditional television will continue to be seen if these streaming services can continue to provide original content, plus re-air the content from established television stations on their service. I know I personally enjoy watching TV series on Netflix and other similar services because I don’t need to deal with commercials and I also don’t need to wait a full week to see the next episode. The binge-factor of being able to get through full seasons of a television show in just a few days or weeks really draws me in.”
Netflix is continuing to pursue new deals and new original content for its streaming video platform. The next Nielsen survey on this subject will shed further light on the relationship between Netflix consumption and television viewing habits.
