LearnCreate, the company that is pioneering the use of crowdsourcing to create top-quality learning content at great prices, announced today the world’s first public e-learning course design challenge.
The contest, worth a total of $8,000, consists of two phases: storyboard and course development. In the first phase, instructional designers will develop a short storyboard based on the project’s design document and supporting material. The top three submissions will each receive a cash award, with the winning submission receiving an additional $3,250 to complete the storyboard and assessment for the entire course. All semi-finalists are automatically short-listed to participate in the Course Development phase of the competition.
In the Course Development phase, the top three submissions will also receive a cash award, with the winner receiving an additional $3,250 to develop the entire e-learning course and assessment.
“We believe that the challenge is a significant milestone in the education industry and will change the way learning content is created and procured in the future,” states Don Hernandez, Founder of LearnCreate. “We’ve been using various crowdsourcing approaches to create courses for our clients for nearly a year, but these have all been private contests open only to our community of vetted professionals. As far as we know, this is the very first time that a public challenge has been issued to create learning content.”
The contest is now open and the deadline for all storyboard entries is 27 July 2012. Submissions for the development phase will begin on 8 August 2012. Interested designers and developers can register here to access the material and review the submission rules.
