Portland, OR (PRWEB) July 19, 2012
Today, at the O'Reilly OSCON Open Source Convention, OW2, the global open source community for open source infrastructure software and applications platforms, announces OW2con'12, the fourth edition of the community's annual conference, to be held in Paris, November 28-29, 2012.
With over 50 speakers from North America, Europe, China and Brazil, and two days of high-level technical presentations on open source infrastructure software, cloud computing and software engineering technologies, OW2con is the annual gathering of the OW2 community and open source professionals.
This year's theme, “The Open Source Alternative”, reflects on the evolution of the open source software industry. While open source has always been the mainstream alternative to proprietary software, OW2 is fast becoming the leading open source organization throughout Europe and in Brazil and China.
On the agenda at this year's conference will be a new workshop on Big Data and the first-ever OW2 Projects Awards. In addition, keynote addresses, plenary meetings, round tables and workshop sessions will cover a wide range of current topics, including middleware technologies, Business Intelligence, software quality assessment and open source Cloud Computing, with a mix of technical presentations and real-world success stories given by end-users.
While the two-day event will place a great emphasis on hands-on workshop sessions, our landmark venue, Orange Labs' Innovation Gardens, will allow attendees to socialize with open source professionals in an informal atmosphere. The now traditional free beer party will again be a high moment of the event.
OW2con'12 is an open event. Anybody with an interest in state-of-the-art, independent open source software engineering and cloud computing technologies is invited to join the OW2 community at OW2con'12.
Save the dates, November 28-29, 2012, on your calendar now. Registration is free and will open starting in early September 2012 when the final program will be announced.
