WHY:    In London to deliver color commentary for the 2012 Olympics, 2004 Olympic gold medalist Carly Patterson will wrap-up her time in Europe with a USO visit to troops and military families at Royal Air Force Base Mildenhall, August 13, 2012. As part of her first USO visit Patterson will participate in toddler gym classes, host tumbling and gymnastic clinics as well as inspire and encourage military youths to follow their dreams. She will also extend America’s thanks to military families for their service and sacrifice.

In 2004, Patterson became the first American female in 20 years to win the All-Around Olympic Gold medal in a non-boycotted Olympics. In addition to her athletic career, which includes her own line of apparel, Patterson has a passion for music and will be re-releasing her single “Here I am” on July 18, 2012. Originally released in 2009, “Here I am” was written about Patterson’s personal Olympic experience and as an inspiration to others to follow their dreams.
