The fast-growing and distributed nature of various communications, information, and energy technologies makes this an exciting time for rural communities.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 19, 2012
Following on the heels of his keynote presentations to senior PepsiCo executives in Chennai, India, SingTel's CIO Days in Hong Kong, and the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) in Harrisburg, PA, popular keynote speaker, renowned global futurist, technology forecaster and best-selling author, Jack Uldrich has been selected to give the keynote address at this year’s National Rural Economic Development Association (NREDA) on July 19 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The title of Uldrich’s presentation is “Jump the Curve to a Smarter, More Profitable Future.”
The material presented in the keynote will be based on a combination of Uldrich's best-selling book, “Jump the Curve: 50 Essential Strategies to Help Your Company Stay Ahead of Emerging Technologies,” and his new book, "Foresight 2020: A Futurist Explores the Trends Transforming Tomorrow." The presentation, which will cover trends in information and communication technologies, robotics, nanotechnology, biotechnology, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, business analytics and more, is designed to provide community leaders and senior economic development officials with a solid foundation upon which to construct their communities own future. An overview of some of Uldrich’s ideas on information technologies can be found in this recent article, 10 Future Mobile Trends for CIO’s to Consider Today.
Uldrich will also provide an overview of how technological change is upending long-standing economic development models and discuss why future trends will demand “unlearning.” Uldrich, who has been hailed as "America's Chief Unlearning Officer" and is the author of “Higher Unlearning: 39 Post-Requisite Lessons for Achieving a Successful Future,” will conclude his talk by reviewing the consequences of not embracing the concept of “unlearning.” Throughout his talk, Uldrich will use vivid analogies and memorable stories, drawn from a wide spectrum of industries, to ensure his message of change "sticks" with his audience. A sample of some Uldrich’s ideas on the future of agriculture can be found in this chapter from his forthcoming book, “Foresight 2020”.
In the past year, Uldrich has addressed hundreds of business and trade groups from around the world, including delivering customized keynote presentations to The Chief Learning Officers Summit, PepsiCo, United Healthcare, Cisco, IBM, WiPro, The California Agriculture Summit, Growmark, the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce, various YPO and WPO groups, and General Electric.
