BRS Media, a diverse and growing media e-commerce firm that helps traditional and interactive media companies build and brand on the power of the Internet, has launched RadioForward.com, a portal to highlight .RADIO TLD Applicants, including the EBU’s calculated move to join ICANN’s (Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers) Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) for its own financial gain.
RadioForward.com (http://radioforward.com) has been established to inform and educate the Radio industry, as well as the public at large, about the .RADIO new gTLD Applicants. The objective of Radio Forward is to offer a platform to collate industry concerns and apprehensions, help translate these into meaningful action and move Radio Forward.
“Not all gTLD applicants are equal, as an example, the EBU has drafted a ‘Community-Bias’ application that is full of archaic restrictions that stand to stifle innovation and discriminates against many segments of the wide-ranging radio industry” remarked George T. Bundy, Chairman & CEO of BRS Media Inc. "While in contrast, we have a 15 year proven track record of registry experience that is professional, reliable and all-inclusive; with a deep history of encouraging innovation and openness in the domain space.” adding, “It would be regrettable if the .RADIO TLD fell into the hands of a bureaucratic trade group, that shows willful intent to suppress creativity with vague check compliance clauses, and shrewdly intends to game the new TLD process to benefit itself, ‘where it carries commercial activities’."
On July 6th, BRS Media sent a letter to GAC Chair Heather Dryden, stating; “We believe the activities of the EBU joining the GAC to be a direct Conflict of Interest, within the New TLD Application process. Since the EBU has already been accepted to the GAC, we must request that the Chair recommend, the European Broadcasting Union recuse itself from the New TLD process by withdrawing its applications immediately. Thereby avoiding the wild perception of any impropriety due to this conflict of interest by the EBU and the Governmental Advisory Committee.” A copy of the letter is available at: http://www.brsmedia.fm/GAC (.pdf)
