Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) readies for implementation of FERC Order 764 – Integration of Variable Energy Resources with its robust intra-hour scheduling solutions.

We have excellent feedback on the industry needs and have prioritized completion of some exciting features in upcoming releases.

Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) is prepared for full compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Order 764 in OATI intra-hour scheduling solutions.

Multiple facets of intra-hour scheduling are currently in use by OATI customers. The OATI ETRM and Transmission Operations solutions will provide the increased functionality and efficiencies to meet the needs of this Order through continued enhancements.

This FERC Order requires each public utility transmission provider to offer intra-hourly transmission scheduling to ensure charges for energy imbalance services are just and reasonable. The intra-hour scheduling provisions provide opportunity for variable energy resources to align the energy schedules with forecasted production as conditions change within the hour.

Industry-leading OATI software solutions will provide features that allow suppliers to effectively participate in the management of resource schedules, resulting in fewer energy imbalance conditions. In addition, the ETRM (webTrader) and transmission operations (webTrans) suite of applications are being updated to support continued compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Standards and North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) Business Practices and provide features to efficiently manage the increase in scheduling granularity.

“We are leveraging the broad application functionality in response to industry needs in this area, taking advantage of the core framework that is in place supporting diverse operational and business drivers through automation and transparency. We have excellent feedback on the industry needs and have prioritized completion of some exciting features in upcoming releases,” said Kevin Sarkinen, Senior Vice President.
