August 11th will be an exciting day for Doing My Part and the Doing My Part Street Team. After working for months to raise money, the non-profit will finally be completing their most recent project. From 2:30pm- 5pm, the street team in conjunction with The Salvation Army Center of Hope will be giving out 150 pairs of shoes, socks, foot washes and hope mentors to homeless youth in Charlotte, North Carolina.

According to founder Mike Spencer, at the event, “The child will sit facing the hope mentor while they get their feet handwashed and are given a message of hope." Since school is out for the summer, the majority of the youth have no access to clean clothes, shoes, food or water. Luckily, Doing My Part and the Charlotte Salvation Army Center of Hope are here to help.

All of the children who will be receiving the services of Doing My Part and the Doing My Part Heroes currently reside in the Salvation Army Center of Hope. These groups work to instill the message of hope in the children at the center. While it might seem like a small gesture to some, this can lead to major changes in the children’s lives.

The idea behind Doing My Part is simple; people around the US donate $3 that goes towards different projects around the country. In this instance, the heroes will be able to watch a live feed online of the project facility and the check distribution. Doing My Part hopes that this will get more people involved in the future. August 11th will be an exciting day for both the children of Charlotte, North Carolina and the Doing My Part Heroes.

Doing My Part is a non-profit organization with the mission of "transforming the way the world gives back". Doing My Part gives anyone the chance to become a Hero through a minimal $3 automatic monthly donation.
