IEG, LLC—which has guided brands and properties for more than 30 years in optimizing their involvements in sponsorship—has hired Michael Wright as chief growth officer for IEG Consulting Group.
Wright brings more than 25 years of experience in sports marketing and sponsorship to his new role—including nearly 20 years at IMG—earning a reputation as a skilled seller, advisor, negotiator and revenue-generator for a wide variety of clients.
He will put that expertise to work leading the effort to grow IEG Consulting and its ability to deliver unparalleled insights and counsel to brands, rightsholders and other organizations.

Based in the company’s Chicago headquarters, Wright becomes a senior member of IEG’s management team, responsible for IEG Consulting’s new business development, including sales strategy and staff leadership.
Wright joins IEG following a distinguished career that began in the packaged goods sector, continued through two decades at IMG, and most recently saw him at the helm of his own consulting firm.
Having worked for both Sara Lee and Cadbury Schweppes in Canada, Wright was recruited by IMG in 1986 to reorganize its events group before assuming leadership of sales and marketing. He eventually served as senior vice president and managing director of both IMG and TWI Canada.
Wright moved to IMG in New York in 1995 to direct the firm’s international consulting practice as senior vice president of global corporate consulting, serving clients such as American Express, General Motors, Price Waterhouse, Rolex and the NHL. He then established IMG’s NASCAR division in Charlotte before returning to New York as senior vice president of Olympic sales and marketing, where he secured more than $75 million in sponsorship for the USOC from 2002 to 2005.
For the last several years, Wright has led TWS Sponsor Solutions, a boutique consultancy developing sports marketing and partnership strategies for numerous organizations, including motorsports operations, athletic training companies and the Pacific Institute for Sports Excellence.
