July 28th at 7:30 p.m., the Hard Rock Phoenix will host the “Freedom Rock Benefit” to support anti-human trafficking efforts by non-profit, Unlikely Heroes, (http://www.unlikelyheroes.com). Five local musical acts: The Alchemy Heart, Lovers+Fighters, Josh Miles, MRDR and Ree Boado will be performing throughout the night. There will also be a live presentation by Erica Greve, MSW, President and Founder of Unlikely Heroes and a Raffle with Prizes to benefit Unlikely Heroes.
The Hard Rock Phoenix hosts “Freedom Rock Benefit” to help child victims of commercial sexual exploitation at 7:30pm on July 28th 2012. This event will include live performances by The Alchemy Heart, the 2012 winner of Phoenix’s Battle of the Bands at the Hard Rock, Lovers+Fighters, who recently opened for Sanctus Real & Thousand Foot Crutch, Josh Miles, Ree Boado, and DJ MRDR.
There are more than 100,000 children prostituted in the U.S. per year. 28 billion dollars is generated from child commercial sexual exploitation each year; making it the 2nd most lucrative crime in the world.
Unlikely Heroes is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and restoration of children who were exploited in the sex trade in the US and internationally. In November 2011, Unlikely Heroes deployed a rescue team to the Philippines and rescued 10 girls out of brothels in the Philippines and opened their first restoration home for the rescued girls. The girls are now living in safety and receive life skills, education, job training and clinically sound therapy through the Unlikely Heroes restoration program. Unlikely Heroes also operates an outreach program in the San Francisco Bay Area for commercially exploited children and is currently fundraising to open a rescue home in the Bay Area this year.
This event will feature red carpet arrivals and also include a live presentation from Erica Greve, MSW, President and Founder of Unlikely Heroes. Greve is an internationally known speaker on the issue of justice and human trafficking and has dedicated her life to see the lives of at-risk children protected and improved worldwide. Greve first came into contact with domestic minor sex trafficking victims while working at a hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area more than 5 years ago. Greve is passionate about educating people on the subject of human trafficking, and creating ways for people to get involved, and volunteer for social justice causes. Greve regularly speaks on human trafficking and social justice issues. Greve is also available July 24-28 for in-person interviews.
