Honolulu (PRWEB) July 21, 2012
Mother and son lend their brilliance, finesse and flair for the arts in a splendidly spun piece; Lulu Shen-Chow artfully captures life through her poetry while Randal Fook Lu Chow displays his eye for composition, detail and light through photographs. A visual and literary treat awaits readers who are about to sift through the pages of Wild Dreams.
Wild Dreams is all at once a nature photography and poetry book. The “wild” part of the book is composed of photos taken by Chow from various locations on Oahu and in the State of Alaska. The highlights of these photos include bear in actions and unusual yet interesting sceneries. On the other hand, the “dreams” part of the book includes poems from Shen-Chow’s experiences in reality and in imagination.
“A poem is the emotional essence of a story,” Shen-Chow shared. “Unlike most poems with rhymes and restrictions, freestyle poems enabled me to share my stories in a unique way.”
Both mother and son’s poetry and photography are raw, moving and mesmerizing in Wild Dreams. Far from simply being a coffee table picture book, Wild Dreams is by turns candid and deeply affecting.
Wild Dreams will be featured at the 2012 Illinois Library Association Book Exhibit in Peoria, Ill. on October 9-12, 2012 and at the 2012 New York State Reading Association Book Exhibit in Syracuse, N.Y. on October 28 -30, 2012.
