Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. (PRWEB) July 23, 2012
The providers of the Coast2Coast Rx card, a free discount prescription program endorsed by the California State Association of Counties, announced today that they have expanded partnerships with nine additional county governments across the Golden State during the first half of 2012, bringing the total number of participants to 25. Adoption of the card in Del Norte, Kings, Madera, Mendocino, Nevada, Riverside, San Bernardino, Tehama and Yuba counties contribute to more than 43 percent of all California counties and over one-third of the state’s population having access to the discount program.
Public officials and governmental entities have endorsed the Coast2Coast Rx card for its comprehensive health benefits to constituents, its ease of use and its ability to serve as a source of revenue for county programs. The free program allows California residents to save up to 75 percent on prescription drugs with a nationwide average savings of 55 percent—and in a move that sets itself apart, Coast2Coast Rx provides participating counties with a $1.25 for each prescription filled using the card. Each county uses the revenue from the card to help fund public programs with examples that include Meals on Wheels, senior health fairs, indigent healthcare services, and medical alert services for seniors.
“The Coast2Coast Rx card has proven very beneficial for San Diego,” said Supervisor Ron Roberts, chairman of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. “It saves money for our residents, allows them to attend to their healthcare needs and creates revenue for public programs within the county. A significant program benefit is that participation requires very little work by county staff.”
Coast2Coast Rx will begin distributing redesigned cards that are bilingual and user friendly to pharmacies nationwide to ensure that consumers have convenient access to prescription discounts when needed. To further increase awareness of the program, Coast2Coast Rx has continued to improve users’ experience by making upgrades to design and functionality of its website, including an updated appearance, links to its Facebook and Twitter profiles, and a healthcare blog.
All consumers are eligible to use the Coast2Coast Rx card to save up to 75percent on the cost of more than 60,000 brand name drugs while filling their prescriptions at one of 59,000+ participating pharmacies nationwide. Through partner programs, the card can also be used for discounts on diabetes supplies, pet prescriptions, and services such a lab and imaging, and vision, dental and hearing care. For consumers lacking health insurance, or who are insufficiently covered under a current plan, the card can be a significant cost-saver. It may help offset the expense of high deductibles and in some cases the card can even help relieve costs of the Medicare Part D “donut hole.”
“With more than 6.9 million uninsured residents in California(1), there is a demonstrated need for the Coast2Coast Rx card discount program, which has steadily made an impact in consumers’ lives by providing access to more affordable medications,” stated Chief Marketing Officer Marty Dettelbach of Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc., the company that provides the discount prescription card. “And the benefits are not limited to those who are uninsured—underinsured consumers, those who experience the Medicare Part D “donut hole,” or those who are fully insured can benefit from using the card. I encourage residents to explore the money-saving benefits of the Coast2Coast Rx card to see what options are the most cost-effective for them.”
