July 18, 2012 marked the 44th birthday of Intel, the world’s largest semiconductor chip maker. Founded in Santa Clara, California, Intel’s microprocessors can be found in many of the world’s computers.

On July 23, 2012, digital marketing agency, fishbat, released a statement following the 44th birthday of Intel on July 18, 2012.

Intel was founded on July 18, 1968, by two ex-Fairchild Semiconductor employees, Gordon E. Moore and Robert N. Noyce. In 1974, Intel pioneered the 8-bit 8080 microprocessor, which soon became the industry standard. In the 1970s, Intel also moved into the watch making business when they acquired digital watch maker Microma. Intel sold the Microma brand in 1978 due to increased competition and lower retail prices.

Intel’s famous “Intel Inside” slogan was conceived by Dennis Carter in 1991 following a failed promotion with their 386 SX processors. According to the Intel Inside® Program, it “represented the first time a PC component manufacturer successfully communicated directly to computer buyers.” Intel’s infamous five-note sound, which has been widely used in advertisement s and media since 2004, was created by Austrian-born composer Walter Werzowa.

“Intel has been an innovator in its industry for many decades,” says Justin Maas, social media account manager at fishbat, digital marketing agency. “They continue to be on the forefront of digital innovation and show no signs of slowing down.” Intel’s stock rose in trading on July 18th as it reported its second quarter earnings and revised its outlook on the third quarter.
