I encourage everyone across the county to become a member of AlertID.

AlertID, a free mobile app and Internet service that helps protect families and communities against crime, threats of terrorism, dangers to our children and emergencies like fires or floods, announced today that it offers a new feature that provides severe weather alerts to its members in all 50 states. These alerts warn of severe weather events such as dangerous hurricanes, tornadoes and other violent storms.
The 2011 hurricane season produced 19 tropical storms, which is the third highest number since record keeping began in 1851. The Weather Services International predicts that the 2012 Hurricane Season will generate as many as 12 named storms, including seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes. In addition, there are hundreds of tornadoes in the U.S. each year, most of which develop with little or no warning.
AlertID now provides free year-round severe weather alerts to your smart phone, iPad or computer directly from the National Weather Service. With AlertID, families and communities receive vital information faster and more directly than from TV and radio so that members have more time to prepare for an emergency and, if necessary, an evacuation.
Receiving alerts is simple, just go to AlertID.com and enroll. Users can select the areas for which they would like to receive alerts, including their neighborhoods or any other location, such as where other family members live or go to school.
“I encourage everyone across the county to become a member of AlertID so that they can receive alerts in time to prepare for an emergency when precious seconds count,” said AlertID’s Founder, Keli Wilson.
In addition to national severe weather and earthquake alerts, AlertID provides sex offender alerts in 10 states, crime alerts in many states, a two-way communication platform with authorities, and a portfolio of family and community safety applications and services, all free to subscribers.
