Nobility Far Beyond Royalty In Our Backyard

Normal to Noble is a fun and engaging startup manual for non-profits written by Al Midgett, founder of The Noblemen, a philanthropic group in Hampton Roads, Virginia. The book captures their success and tells how they did it.

When Al and Marge Midgett’s son, Matthew, came into this world dramatically premature in 1993, the couple experienced just how powerful community love and support can be; it got them through those darkest hours, and helped Al Midgett wake up to a new calling.

For nearly 20 years, Midgett has made philanthropy his life … and his living. He brought royalty into the ranks of everyday Joes by founding The Noblemen – a nonprofit dedicated to performing noble deeds for local children who are in need of help, from golf-classic fundraisers to bus caravans filled with Christmas presents from Santa Claus.

Midgett’s vision has netted hundreds of thousands of dollars for Hampton Roads’ children and various organizations. Now, Midgett wants to bestow what he’s learned to others in his first book, Normal to Noble, published by Virginia Beach’s Köehler Books Publishing.

As founder of The Noblemen, Midgett recounts the stories, adventures, successes, setbacks and exciting plans for the organization’s future. He imparts wisdom to those who want to “be a part of the solution” and give back to their communities.

“I am writing this book to share my stories so others can learn our unique brand of local philanthropy,” Midgett says. “It is my vision to teach others how to create fun in fundraising.”
