FrontPoint Security, a nationwide leader in wireless home security, announced the availability of location-based services with their home security system. FrontPoint’s new “Geo Services” feature offers customers a smart option for enhancing their interactive customization and notification capabilities, based on their location.
The Geo Services option is available to all FrontPoint customers with an Interactive or Ultimate Monitoring Plan, for no extra charge. With Geo Services they can integrate their mobile phone location with their FrontPoint system. Following location-specific rules determined by the customer, the FrontPoint security system sends real-time activity alerts based on the customer’s physical location, tracked by their mobile phone.
For example, if customers choose to utilize the popular Arming Reminders feature, they first set up their home “geo-fence,” which is a virtual perimeter around the house (proximity of the geo-fence can be determined by the individual user). If the customer then drives away from the house, exiting the geo-fence without arming the home security system, the system will automatically send notification. This option can even be customized to accommodate multiple mobile phones within the same household.

The Arming Reminder Geo Service is available now, at no extra charge, to all FrontPoint customers with an Interactive or Ultimate Monitoring plan. In future releases, Geo Services will expand to include home automation and secondary locations. For example, users will be able to set the system to automatically turn on lights or adjust the thermostat as they enter their geo-fence area. Or they can define custom geo-fences around other significant locations like a vacation home, child's school, or workplace.
The first Geo Services release is compatible with iPhones 4 and up, and Android smartphones version 1.6 and up. Apps for Windows and other smartphones will be released soon. Customers can set up their new locations-based security rules by accessing their account at myfrontpoint.com.
