Author Arlene Jordan discusses that women read romance stories because they long for passionate, life-changing love and happy endings. They are searching for romance after marriage in their ordinary life. In her book, Love and Hope: The Legacy of Love and Loss, she weaves her love story that depicts life after marriage, a tenderness which gives a glow to the ordinary, mundane things people all live with everyday—giving people hope that average relationships do not have to be the norm. This true story is filled with all the emotions of life. Take a walk with her on her journey and you will find heartfelt love, laughter, sadness and you will cry for these two life-long lovers and … and then you will find a new life emerge for her. .
“This memoir is compelling, and as I read her love story, I experienced her joy and her pain. The ‘Helpful Suggestions’ addendum is priceless.” —Ken Rotcop, award-winning author and screenplay writer (http://www.pitchmart.com).
This book is the author’s honest avowal of her love story. She lived in what she termed “the bridge generation”, the generation that spanned the second half of the 1950s and the early 1960s, where she lived through the turbulent conflicts of Vietnam, a new emerging culture of free love and drugs. Then she embraced the new age of freedom of expression that expanded her in a wave of diverse thinking. By 28, she had been through a lot in life—marriage, college, divorce, birthing a child in her 20’s. Then she remarried and thought she would live “happily ever after”, until her husband died. Her book Love and Hope: The Legacy of Love and Loss is about that incredible man and his impact on her life. His death led her to a journey that changed her view of life and the realization of how her life had been focused on the man she loved for 40 years. The story reveals how their lives changed from a happenstance meeting and changed again when one of them was no longer there. It is a story of hope and renewal because of, not in spite of, tremendous sorrow.
“Now I had to fill the chasm created in my heart by his death with a new way of being. The clarity of my life’s journey started at the point where I gave my soul a voice . . . ah yes, a voice which changed the course of my life’s journey forever,” Jordan affirms.
