Popdust.com, the largest web destination dedicated exclusively to pop music, announced its Spotify app, Lifetracker, is now available within the Spotify app finder in the U.S. Lifetracker features Popdust editors' hand-curated soundtracks to any day-to-day activity you might think of -- from working out to making out -- enabling users the opportunity to share their own playlists to like-minded music lovers. The app also offers links to the latest in pop star news and interactive features on Popdust.com.
“Popdust's new Spotify app, Lifetracker, provides pop-centric playlists that music fans can use in their everyday lives as well as the ability to share their favorite songs across our expanding audience,” said David Hargis, Popdust VP of Business Development. “Popdust’s users are passionate and our editors are experts. Hugh Panero, Popdust’s CEO added, “The Popdust brand is dedicated to deepening fans’ relationships with popular music and the stars who make the music they love. Our new app, Lifetracker, provides Spotify’s millions of users with an easy and entertaining way to identify, enjoy and learn about the biggest songs in the country.”
The availability of its Spotify app follows an announced redesign of Popdust’s website, a new brand identity, and a host of new interactive and fan-sourced features. In March, the company introduced Popdust Style, its online retail store where music fans shop for clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories. The inaugural collection of fashion and accessories was curated by Epic Records recording artist Karmin.
The strategic revamp and extension of the Popdust brand accompanies a new CEO, Hugh Panero, formerly the CEO and founder of XM Satellite Radio, and the company’s closing a $4.5 million Series-A fund raise led by New Enterprise Associates with participation from other leading venture capital firms RRE Ventures, Softbank Capital and international investment firm and company builder Project A Ventures, along with several prominent individual investors.
Popdust focuses an expert music-centric lens on the artists creating and performing the biggest songs in the country. Since launching in 2011, Popdust has already reached over 1 million unique monthly visitors composed of young, influential music fans who obsessively follow stars like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Rihanna. The management team is led by new CEO Hugh Panero, former CEO and Founder of XM Satellite Radio; David Wade, Co-Founder/President; and Co-Founder/Editor-In-Chief Craig Marks, former top editor of SPIN, BLENDER and BILLBOARD. Popdust investors represent the leading venture firms, including: Lerer Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, Softbank Capital and RRE Ventures. Read more at http://www.popdust.com.
