Multi award winning ‘DAVID IS DYING’ will soon be released on dvd, rated 15 by the British Board of Film Classification.
It can be regarded as an awareness movie and raises many important issues about love and promiscuity. As a psychological drama, the film is character driven and largely improvised within the body of a script written, produced and directed by Stephen Lloyd Jackson. The vibrant backdrop of London and Brighton provide the locations.
SAR Productions actively supports the untapped, international talent and the independent filmmaking spirit of the United Kingdom. There was a 50/50 split of female and male talent both on and off screen, something that Jackson prides himself on.
The film has a principal cast made up of 90% British Afro/Caribbean actors, providing a different perspective of London’s Black community to be explored in mainstream cinema.
The film collaborates with four major London boroughs, truly reflecting the global appeal of the city. Again, Jackson loves London and shooting movies there. He likens himself to the passion felt for New York that Allen, Lee and Scorsese had in their early work.
‘David Is Dying’ is the first slate of films by the writer/producer/director Jackson and SAR Productions in which they will endeavour to maintain an independent spirit. The aim is to maximize a substantial return through the essence of thought provoking story telling.
The film began as an idea and then a drafted treatment by Stephen Lloyd Jackson over ten years ago. After a development period of nine months, Jackson decided to embark on this picture, which had the most immediate currency both commercially and creatively in its appeal.
Although considered an independent budget film, technology has enabled the filmmakers to produce cost effectively with high production values. The relatively small production comprising of four principal lead characters and 15 crew members, is an independent endeavor.
‘David Is Dying’ is a character driven, psychological drama. The lead character takes us on a dark journey that reveals the depths that people will go in their relationships, from all walks of life. The film is a human-interest story with characters that are full of personality, guilt and secrets that develop and unravel as the story unfolds.
The film will be marketed as new, exciting and culturally relevant. The aim will be to prevent the film from being viewed as a stereotypical “urban movie”.
'David Is Dying' is available to download from the SAR movie channel and will be available on DVD (15) within the next few weeks.
