Presenting in a collaborative educational session with Upper Iowa University and APPA on July 31.

UGL Services, a division of UGL Limited (ASX: UGL), is showcasing the company’s Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) strategies at its booth (#1119) during the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Annual Meeting here at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center from July 28-31. Presented under the theme, “Embark on your TCO Journey,” UGL Services’ show activities are designed to both highlight the company’s TCO principles and reinforce industry evolution toward this new philosophy.

Total Cost of Ownership

TCO is quickly becoming an industry standard for measuring costs and comparing performance. It is a leadership philosophy, a shift in focus from managing a budget to an investment strategy.TCO is a journey which starts at various points depending on the institution and there is no destination. At UGL Services TCO means both Total Cost of Ownership and Total Cost of Occupancy since most of the company’s clients have both owned and leased space.

“The concept of TCO knits facilities management, real estate, project management, capital construction and other functions together to make it very clear what the real cost of operating, managing, maintaining and owning or leasing a facility really is,” said Randy Ledbetter, Vice President Business Development, UGL Services. “This can only lead to transparency and better decision making.”

UGL Services brings a wealth of property management services to both the expense and capital sides of the TCO equation. It helps break down silos that inhibit real estate and facilities management operations and gives owners and investors confidence in all of their asset investment decisions today and into the future. UGL Services can support all of the silos while eliminating the barriers between facilities management and real estate operations. The company implements TCO programs to help clients manage real estate investments effectively through a more holistic view of costs in order to foster better decisions and more profitable outcomes. Through self-performance and a TCO model, UGL Services builds critical synergies that allow for optimizing environments and transforming cultures.
