Our Bangkok buying team has been hard at work developing new cutting-edge designs for this phenomenal gem and the finished product is better than we could have hoped.
Knoxville, Tenn. (PRWEB) July 24, 2012
Jewelry Television®, the nation’s only shopping network dedicated exclusively to the sale of jewelry and gemstones, will celebrate elegance and everyday opulence with Opal Fest, July 26 through 29. This first-time event will feature the retailer’s largest selection of high-quality opals ever.
Several of JTV’s best-selling gemstones like Ethiopian opal and Chalama Black Opal will be showcased during the event. Mined in Ethiopia, the Chalama Black Opal is smoke treated leaving the opal’s color black in high contrast with its kaleidoscope of vibrant colors. JTV will also unveil a new carved Ethiopian opal jewelry collection during the event.
According to Tom Ahles, director of gemstone merchandise planning and vendor relations at JTV, carving gemstones, such as Ethiopian opals, takes precision and patience while using a handheld cutter with fast-rotating diamond-coated tips on the end. Common shapes seen in these carved gems are geometrics, swirls, waves and shapes that resemble nature. Since each stone is hand carved, each piece is one of a kind.
“Our Bangkok buying team has been hard at work developing new cutting-edge designs for this phenomenal gem and the finished product is better than we could have hoped,” he said.
Other gemstones that will be showcased during Opal Fest include pink opal, fire opal, opal doublets, opal triplets and mosaic opals. Opals display a large range of beautiful colors from iridescent to brilliant pink, blue, orange, green and yellow. Expect to see opals paired with kyanite for a striking combination and with chrome to provide durability and strength.
“The range in color and design of the opals we are featuring is extraordinary,” said Ahles. “We travel the world to hand select the most beautiful gemstones and make sure our customers get them at the very best prices possible.”
