California Casualty, a national auto and home insurance provider that caters to educators, firefighters, nurses, and peace officers, recently completed the first annual “Battle of the Blogs.”

“Our customers are a very specialized group,” said Scott Randolph, who manages the company’s social media accounts,” and we wanted to highlight the best bloggers we could find that speak both to their professions, and their lives.”

California Casualty sought out the best blogs that specifically targeted nurses, firefighters, educators, and police officers, and let them face off against each other in a online voting contest. The winners received not only recognition, they also won a $200 donation to the charity of their choice.

While California Casualty’s business is selling auto insurance for nurses, teachers, firefighters, and police officers – their social media focus is on growing a community around the interests of their fans.

“We understand the professions and the lives of our customers, but there’s always more for us to learn. It was really important for us to find those bloggers that our customers could relate to – people in the trenches – and then highlight their efforts.”
