Through our ministry, we inspire people to realize that anyone, no matter their story, can have a close and personal relationship with God.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 25, 2012
Brenda Robinson has survived poverty, physical and sexual abuse, frequent grand mal epileptic seizures and the limits of a seventh grade education.
Robinson reveals her secrets to perseverance and strength in her new book, “A New Desire: Sailing Six Ships into Deep Channels of God’s Sufficiency” (published by CrossBooks). In the book, Robinson uses a sailing metaphor to describe how she left behind her devastating upbringing and embarked on a new life. The journey, she says, led her to co-found New Desire Christian Ministry, a traveling ministry that does weekly bookings across the United States.
“Through our ministry, we inspire people to realize that anyone, no matter their story, can have a close and personal relationship with God,” Robinson says. “In that way, the book also helps readers realize that society shackles us with our pasts and gives us false ways to deal with negative feelings, rather than looking for truth in God’s Word.”
The book is a six-week program that is centered around six “-ships” that Robinson identified to develop a more intimate, forgiving relationship with God. Robinson guides readers through the in-depth Bible study, starting with courtship to ending at worship, with the experience of someone who has relied on God during very hard times.
“My experiences brought me to a destitute place, a place where I found myself broken and hopeless,” Robinson says. “It felt as though my own feelings of insufficiency had stolen my motivation and desire to live
“In the fight to survive, I came to realize that I did not have the power to win the battle. In that dark time, God became my oasis, my motivation and my hope.
