Cloud computing and colocation provider FiberCloud announces today that they now support Ubuntu operating systems on both their cloud and dedicated servers. Customers now have the option to choose pre-installed Ubuntu cloud servers, offering more operating system options for open-source servers. Ubuntu comes installed on cloud servers at no additional charge.
The most popular commercially-supported operating system on the web, Ubuntu is considered by many to be at the leading edge in its addition of new features. Ubuntu is also known for its performance and efficient use of system resources.
While Ubuntu has always been available on FiberCloud’s dedicated physical servers, the release of Ubuntu 12.04 allows FiberCloud cloud customers a wider range of server options. Ubuntu is the newest addition to FiberCloud’s Linux-based cloud server selection which already includes CentOS, Fedora and Red Hat.
Ubuntu maintains a regular release schedule, helping users keep up-to-date on the latest updates and security fixes. The open source operating system is a popular Linux distribution in the web and app developer community. Adding Ubuntu to existing cloud server offerings gives FiberCloud’s customers more flexibility in choosing the applications they want.
“We’re committed to building an infrastructure that allows our customers to have the options they need, “ said Sue DeFlorio, COO at FiberCloud. “We want to make our cloud and dedicated server offerings leading edge, and adding Ubuntu support does just that.”
FiberCloud’s cloud server customers can choose from Windows and Linux servers, and can choose packages to help scale services as they grow. FiberCloud recently announced Virtual Firewalls to help customers build flexible cloud server networks, allowing them to customize secure cloud networks using multiple servers, with a lower total cost of ownership.
